About Us

In 1839, James E. Caldwell, a watchmaker from Poughkeepsie, NY, established his business in Philadelphia, PA, just one block from Independence Hall. His philosophy to provide only the very best in timepieces, jewelry and English and French manufactured goods proved tremendously successful.

Over the years, this principle helped him earn prestigious honors including the designation in 1892 as the official jeweler of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an honor that continues today. While the Caldwell stores have changed over the 168 years since Mr. Caldwell first opened his door, its guiding purpose has not. Today, we are proud to have your trust and are eager to serve you. Our Insignia Department is managed by Ms. Dina Smith. Ms. Smith reports to Mr. Randy Harris.
